First, I want to let you know that I am a Stress Relief Specialist.
I am adept at alleviating the effect that stress has on your body, whether from work stress, relationship stress, financial stress or just the stress of everyday life. Whatever the cause, I can help your body recover from its effects and help you improve your quality of life and help you move forward.
In December of 2001 I graduated from The Sarasota School of Massage Therapy. The following January I was nationally certified and licensed in the state of Florida. I set up my private practice doing mobile massage in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.
All my life I have worked with my hands. Like many people who choose massage therapy as a career I felt I had a special talent that I wanted to put to use helping people in a very personal way, not just making beautiful things for them to look at and enjoy. I thought myself a healer. I come from a family very involved in medicine and the healing arts. Along the way I have learned that I am not the healer. I am a conduit for the healing energy in the universe and in the people I touch.
While continuing my own private practice, I spent two years working at a health spa. The experience was wonderful and educational. I learned many new and very effective techniques, as well as special treatments that can usually only be found in a spa setting. I also discovered that I didn’t like the time structure of the spa setting. An appointment was for 50 or 80 minutes. No more, no less. When your time was up, it was time to stop. Period. One of the benefits of my own practice is that I can give an extra five minutes to a client to achieve the release they need.
Many people, especially those who have never had a massage, want to know if it will be painful. The truth is, sometimes it is and sometimes it is unavoidable depending on how deep and long term your tension. Pain is a communication tool of the body. The body’s response to pain is to tighten the muscle around the affected area to prevent further damage. It stands to reason that if a massage is too painful the sought for release will not be forthcoming. As a result, my attitude is to keep any pain involved with a massage session at a minimum. I believe it is best to take a slow, gentle approach to muscular release.
In May of 2011 I moved to the Livingston area to be with, and help take care of, family. I am licensed to practice massage in the state of Texas and have set up my treatment room in the Escapee’s RV Park at Rainbow’s End, just south of Livingston off Highway 146.
